국문

기장 향교 대성전은 공자의 위패를 모신 기장 향교 성묘(聖廟)의 정전(正殿)이다.

대성전의 구조는 정면 3칸, 측면 3칸 규모로 익공계 겹처마 맞배지붕을 하고 있다. 매년 음력 2월과 8월 상정일에 석전의 예를 올리며, 매월 음력 초하루 보름에는 분향례를 올린다.

대성전에는 공자를 중심으로, 배위* 4성, 종향위** 송조 4현, 우리나라 18현의 위패를 모시고 있다.

  • 배위: 문묘(文廟)나 서원(書院)의 주벽(主壁) 좌우에 모신 신위(神位).
  • 종향위: 배향위의 바깥쪽에 동서 양편으로 모신 신위를 이르는 말.

Daeseongjeon Shrine

Daeseongjeon is the main shrine of a local Confucian school. Its name means “Hall of the Great Sage,” as the spirit tablets of Confucius and other Confucian sages are enshrined here. It is believed that during the performance of veneration rituals, the spirits of these sages reside in the wooden spirit tablets.

Daeseongjeon Shrine of Gijanghyanggyo Local Confucian School enshrines the spirit tablets of 27 Confucian sages, including Confucius. Veneration rituals for the Confucian sages are held in the second and eighth lunar months, and incense-burning rituals are held once every 15 days.

영문 해설 내용

대성전은 향교의 사당으로, 공자를 비롯한 유교 성현들의 위패를 모신 공간이다. 제례를 올리는 동안 대성전에 모셔진 성현들의 혼이 위패에 돌아와 머문다고 여겨진다.

기장향교 대성전은 공자를 비롯한 유교 성현 25인의 위패를 모시고 있다. 유교 성현에게 드리는 제사는 매년 음력 2월과 8월에 거행하며, 향을 피우는 의례는 매월 초하루와 보름에 거행한다.
