해설문
국문
수구는 성벽에 있는 배수시설 중 하나로, 성벽 밑이나 중간에 작은 공간을 만들어 성 바깥쪽으로 물이 흘러나가도록 하였다.
웅천읍성에는 동북쪽 성벽과 남쪽 성벽에 수구를 각각 1개씩 두었다. 동북쪽 치성 북쪽 하단의 수구는 두께 30cm의 석재* 2개를 내벽까지 뚫어 만들었으며, 폭은 25cm, 높이는 40cm이다. 조사 당시 수구 입구는 깨진 기와로 막혀 있었고, 수구 하부의 토층을 확인한 결과 장기간에 걸쳐 물이 흘렀던 것으로 확인되었다. 현재의 웅천초등학교 자리에 객사**가 있었던 것을 감안할 때, 객사에서 사용한 오수를 내보내던 시설이었던 것으로 추정된다.

Drainage Outlet (Uncheoneupseong Walled Town, Changwon)
A drainage outlet was installed at the bottom or in the middle of a wall to allow water to flow out of the area enclosed by the wall.
Ungcheoneupseong Walled Town had two drainage outlets: one in the northeastern wall and one in the southern wall. The drainage outlet of the northeastern wall is located at the bottom of the wall next to the northeastern bastion. The outlet measures 25 cm in width and 40 cm in height. The outlet is flanked on each side by a stone measuring 30 in thickness that spans the depth of the wall. During its excavation, the drainage outlet was discovered with its entrance blocked with roof tile shards. Examination of the soil under the outlet showed that water had flowed here for a long period. This drainage outlet is presumed to have been used for the disposal of wastewater produced at the guesthouse, which was located at the site of today’s Ungcheon Elementary School.
