Mudeung Wellness Retreat: A Gentle Pause, A Healing Journey in Gwangju

Narrative

The Mudeung Wellness Retreat is a wellness tourism program designed to help you step away from the bustle of everyday life and find rest at the foot of Mudeungsan Mountain. As part of Visit Gwangju 2025, this course offers a path of healing where nature, ecology, tradition, and art come together in harmony.

The journey begins with quiet reflection amid the serene landscapes of Wonhyosa and Jeungsimsa Temples, followed by a visit to the Gwangju Traditional Culture Center to experience the gentle rhythms of Korean heritage. Along the art-filled streets of Ullim-dong Art Valley, travelers encounter spaces where nature and creativity blend seamlessly. The course continues to Jangnok Wetland and Pyeongdume Wetland on Mudeungsan Mountain—home to a rich array of biodiversity. Notably, Pyeongdume is Gwangju’s first Ramsar-designated wetland, sheltering endangered species and standing as a living symbol of ecological balance.

Mudeung Wellness Retreat offers more than just a getaway. It is a gentle pause—a time to walk slowly, stay mindfully, and reconnect with oneself. On this quiet path, travelers rediscover the essence of true rest.
