동궁과 월지 유적의 연못 서편과 남편에서 총 31동의 건물 터가 확인되었다.

서편 건물 터는 연못 기슭의 석축과 맞닿도록 조성된 제1~5 건물 터, 그리고 익랑*과 회랑**으로 둘러싸인 A~C 건물 터로 이루어져 있다.

제1~5 건물 터는 기단***이 남아 있어 건물 터가 있었음을 알 수 있다. 현재 5동의 건물 터 중 제1,3,5 건물 터가 복원되었다.

동궁과 월지 유적 내에서 주요한 역할을 했을 것으로 추정되는 A~C 건물 터는 남-북을 중심축으로 하여 차례대로 배치되었으며, 익랑과 회랑이 주변을 감싸고 있다.

  • 익랑: 좌우 양편에 날개처럼 펼쳐진 집채
  • 회랑: 주된 집채의 좌우에 있는 긴 집채
  • 기단: 건축물을 올려놓기 위해 흙이나 돌을 쌓아 주변 지역보다 높게 조성한 단
