해설문

국문

한적 들노래는 고흥군 도덕면 용동리 한적마을에 전승되고 있는 농민들의 노동요이다. 논농사를 짓는 농민들이 공동 작업을 할 때, 힘겨운 노동의 고단함을 해소하면서 농사일의 능률도 높이고 풍년을 기원하기 위해 이러한 노래들을 불렀다.

한적 들노래는 벼농사 과정 중 모 뜨기, 모내기, 김매기와 같이 여러 사람이 일손을 맞추어야 할 때 불리며, 일꾼 중 한 사람이 앞소리를 하면 나머지 일꾼들은 뒷소리를 받는 것으로 노래가 진행된다. 노래의 내용 중 「모찌기 노래」와 「모심기 노래」는 주로 여자들이 부르고, 「논매기 노래」는 논을 맬 때 남자들이 부르며, 「질가락」은 논매기 마지막 날 불렀다.

이 노래는 전라남도의 들노래 중 지리산 주변의 섬진강 유역에서 시작하여 전라남도의 동부 해안지대까지 이어지는 동부 지역의 산아지타령권에 속한다. 산아지타령은 「진도아리랑」을 배태시킨 원형으로, 한적마을에서는 일손이 빨라지거나 일할 때 흥을 한껏 돋우기 위해 가창되기도 한다.

현재는 고흥한적들노래 민속보존회가 전승에 힘쓰고 있으며, 고흥군에서 살아온 전통적인 농부이자 소리꾼인 정봉주와 박반심이 그 맥을 이어가고 있다.
