화암약수

화암약수는 철분과 탄산을 모두 포함하고 있는 철분 탄산수이다. 탄산수가 바위틈을 통과해서 솟아나는 경우는 흔하지 않아 보존 가치가 높다. 또 바위와 계곡이 어우러지는 이곳 경치가 아름다워 화암팔경 중 하나로 꼽힌다.

화암약수는 이곳 사람인 문명무가 1910년 무렵 발견하였다. 그는 어느 날 구슬봉 바위 아래에서 청룡과 황룡이 서로 엉키어 하늘로 올라가는 꿈을 꾸었다. 이에 그 자리를 찾아가 땅을 파 보니 바위틈에서 물이 거품을 뿜으며 솟아올랐다고 한다. 한편 마음씨 나쁜 사람은 물 밑에 똬리를 튼 큰 구렁이가 보여 이 약수를 마시지 못한다는 전설이 있다.

Hwaamyaksu Mineral Spring

This spring features carbonated mineral water rich in iron. It is rare for carbonated water to emerge from between rock cracks as happens at this spring. This spring is also one of the scenic sites of Hwaam-ri Village due to the picturesque surroundings consisting of various boulders and valleys.

The spring was found around 1910 by a person named Mun Myeong-mu, who lived in Hwaam-ri. One day, he had a dream that under Guseulbong Peak, a blue dragon and a yellow dragon became entangled with each other on their way to the sky. He then went to the location in his dream and dug up the ground, only to discover bubbling water coming up from between the rocks. Another legend says that if an ill-natured person visits the spring, they will see a large coiled-up serpent below the water, thus preventing them from drinking the water.
