해설문

국문

적석사는 1934년에 편찬된 「전등본말사지(傳燈本末寺誌)」의 기록에 의하면 백련사, 청련사 등과 함께 고구려 장수왕 4년(416)에 창건되었으며 처음에는 적련사(赤蓮寺)로 불리었다가 적석사로 바뀌었다고 전한다. 이 사적비는 숙종 40년(1714)에 세워진 비로, 불교의 전래 및 사찰의 중건·중수 상황이 기록되어 있다. 또한 고려 시대 몽골 침입에 대항하여 강화도로 도읍을 옮겼을 때 적석사가 임금의 거처로 사용되었다는 기록을 담고 있다. 전체 높이 394cm, 비신(碑身)의 높이 304cm, 너비 69cm 로 ‘고려산 적석사지비(高麗山 積石寺之碑)’라는 비의 제목이 새겨져 있다.

Stele for the Construction of Jeokseoksa Temple

This stone stele, erected in 1714, records the history of Jeokseoksa Temple. According to the stele's inscription, Jeokseoksa was founded in 416 and was later used as a royal residence during the Mongol invasions in the 13th century. The temple was reconstructed and repaired several times from the mid-16th to early 18th centuries.

The stele body measures 3.04 m in height and 69 cm in width, and the entire stele, including the capstone, measures 3.94 m in height.
