해설문

국문

1965년 건립된 2층 상가주택으로 바깥에서 보면 3층으로 보이지만, 실제 3층은 2층 주거공간에서 사용하는 다락이다. 정면은 벽기둥을 여러 줄로 돌출시켜 수직성을 강조하였고, 수평 띠를 사용하여 입면을 적절하게 나누었다. 전체적으로 당시 유행하던 모더니즘 건축양식을 잘 구현한 건물이다. 주변의 비슷한 시기에 세워진 상가주택들과 함께 시가지 경관 측면에서 보존 가치가 크다.

Modern Commercial Residential Building No. 5 of Pyeongdong-ro, Iksan

This two-story building was built in 1965. It consists of a commercial space on the street level and a residential space above. Although from outside the building may appear like a three-story structure, the small window at the top is the attic of the residential floor.

The facade of the building features decorative pillars which emphasize its verticality. Such design reflects popular trends in modernist architecture at the time.

Together with the other mixed-use buildings in the vicinity, this building is valuable as it shows the urban landscape of the time when commercial activity developed in this area.

영문 해설 내용

이 건물은 1965년에 지어진 것으로 1층은 상가, 2층은 주거공간으로 구성되어 있다. 바깥에서 보면 3층으로 보이지만, 가운데에 작은 창이 있는 꼭대기 부분은 주거공간에서 사용하는 다락이다.

정면에는 여러 개의 기둥을 돌출시켜 수직성을 강조하였고, 건물이 지어질 당시 유행하던 모더니즘 건축 양식을 구현하였다.

주변의 상가주택들과 함께, 이 일대에 상권이 발달했던 시기의 시가지 경관을 보여준다는 점에서 가치가 크다.
