해설문

국문

시기를 정확하게 알 수 없으나 세운 지 100년 이상 되었다고 전하며 안채와 사랑채, 헛간채로 구성된 ㅁ자형 구조이다.

안채의 지붕은 옆면에서 볼 때 여덟 팔八자 모양을 한 팔작지붕이다. 대청 기둥만은 굵은 원형 기둥을 사용한 점이 특이하며 대청을 중심으로 오른쪽에 건넌방을 두고 왼쪽에 안방과 부엌을 직각으로 두었다.

사랑채는 앞면이 3칸이고 옆면이 1칸이며 일자 모양이다. 마루방, 사랑방, 대문으로 구성되어 있는데 방의 앞쪽에는 넓은 툇마루를 설치하였다. 대문 왼쪽에는 2칸 사랑방을 배치하였고 방 앞에는 툇마루를 놓았다. 헛간채는 나중에 늘려 지은 건물로 양식은 영서 지방의 전형적인 전통 민가 형식을 따르고 있다.

영문

Historic House of Bukssang-ri, Yeongwol

This historic house is said to date to the 19th century. It consists of a men’s quarters, a women’s quarters, and a storehouse, which together form an open square layout with a central courtyard.

The men’s quarters, which also serves as a main gate quarters, consists from left to right of a wooden-floored room, an underfloor-heated room, and a gate, with a narrow wooden veranda along the front of the rooms. The women’s quarters is an L-shaped building consisting of a wooden-floored hall in the center, underfloor-heated rooms to either side, and a kitchen in the wing on the left. The wooden-floored hall features thick round pillars, rather than the typical square pillars. The storehouse, located to the right of the women’s quarters, is a later addition to the house.

영문 해설 내용

이 고택은 19세기에 지은 것으로 전해진다. 사랑채, 안채, 헛간채로 이루어져 있으며, 세 건물이 안마당을 중심으로 ㅁ자형을 이루고 있다.

사랑채는 대문의 역할을 겸하였고, 왼쪽에서부터 마루방, 사랑방, 대문으로 구성되어 있다. 방의 앞쪽에는 툇마루를 두었다. 안채는 대청을 중심으로 양옆에 온돌방을 두고 왼쪽 날개에 부엌을 둔 ㄱ자형 건물이다. 대청에만 일반적인 사각형 기둥 대신 굵은 원형의 기둥을 사용하였다. 안채 오른쪽의 헛간채는 후대에 늘려 지은 건물이다.
