내촌마을의 옛 담장은 섬지역에서 흔히 보이는 돌담이다. 마을 뒤에서 쉽게 얻을 수 있는 납작한 돌과 각형의 막돌로 쌓은 것으로, 막돌을 메쌓기 하거나 막돌과 흙을 교대로 쌓아 올린 것 등 여러 형식이 있다. 마을 주민들이 돌담에 애착을 가지고 관리하므로 지금까지 잘 보존하고 있다.
