- Myeongbujeon, meaning “Hall of the Underworld Realm,” is a Buddhist worship hall for the veneration Ksitigarbha (Bodhisattva of Great Vows), the Ten Underworld Kings, and their retinue. Ksitigarbha took on the responsibility of rescuing unfortunate beings from hell and vowed to postpone Buddhahood until all beings are saved from the world of suffering. The Ten Underworld Kings preside over the judgment of the dead. Therefore, Myeongbujeon symbolizes the realm of the dead and is used as a venue for ceremonies to console the spirits of the dead.
- 명부전은 지장보살, 시왕 및 그 권속들을 봉안하는 전각이다. 지장보살은 지옥의 중생을 구원하는 보살이며, 모든 중생을 제도하기 전에는 성불하지 않겠다고 맹세했다. 시왕은 저승에서 죽은 자의 죄를 심판하는 재판관이다. 따라서 명부전은 저승세계를 상징하며, 죽은 이를 위한 제사를 지내는 곳이기도 하다.
