해설문

국문

마이산 입구 이산묘 맞은편 은선골 바위에 대한건곤 청구일월(大韓乾坤 靑丘日月)이란 백범 김구의 친필이 새겨져 있다. 이 글은 ‘대한의 국운은 하늘과 땅처럼 무궁하고 민족의 장래는 해와 달처럼 밝다’라는 의미이다. 해방 이후 백범 김구가 ‘대한 이산묘’에 모셔진 순국선열을 추모하는 마음을 담아 새긴 것이라고 전해진다.

이산묘 주변에는 백범 김구의 친필 이외에도 ‘용암(龍岩)’, ‘주필대(駐蹕臺)’, ‘마이동천(馬耳洞天)’, ‘비례물동(非禮勿動)’ 등 많은 암각서가 있다.

마이산 암각서는 일제 강점기 독립운동과 관련된 근현대 자료로 중요한 의미를 담고 있다.

Rock Inscription in Kim Gu's Handwriting (Inscriptions on Yongam Rock and Its Surroundings in Maisan Mountain)

This inscription was carved circa 1948 in the handwriting of Kim Gu (1876-1949), a prominent leader of the Korean independence movement during the Japanese colonial period (1910-1945). The inscription reads “May Korea’s fortune be as boundless as the universe, and the nation’s future as bright as the sun and the moon (大韓乾坤 靑丘日月, daehan geongon cheonggu ilwol).”

Located about 500 m to the southeast of this inscription is Isanmyo Shrine, which honors the founding spirit of the Joseon dynasty (1392-1910) and the people who struggled to save the country at the dynasty’s end. Kim Gu actively supported the construction of the shrine, and he had this inscription carved in memory of those venerated at the shrine.

There are several other rock inscriptions in the shrine’s vicinity, which read “dragon rock” (龍巖, yongam), “place of a king’s stay” (駐蹕臺, jupildae), and “make no movement contrary to propriety” (非禮勿動, birye muldong).

영문 해설 내용

이 각자에서 남동쪽으로 약 500m 떨어진 곳에는 조선 건국의 정신을 기념하고 구국 항쟁에 기여한 인물들을 기리기 위해 세운 이산묘라는 사당이 있다. 김구는 이산묘를 세우는 사업에 적극 찬성하고, 사당에 모셔진 인물들을 추모하는 마음을 담아 이 각자를 새겼다고 한다.

이산묘 주변에는 김구의 친필 이외에도 ‘용암(용바위)’, ‘주필대(왕이 머물던 곳)’, ‘비례물동(예가 아니면 행하지 말라)’ 등 많은 암각서가 있다.
