해설문

국문

원래 이곳에는 단종이 머물던 어소가 있었으나 없어지고, 영조 39년(1763)에 이 비를 세워 어소의 위치를 전하고 있다.

화강석 기단 위에 오석으로 된 몸돌을 세우고 비 앞면에는 ‘단묘재본부시유지*’, 뒷면에는 ‘세황명승정무진기원후삼계미계추체경서영원영수석 지명 청령포**’라고 새겼다. 이로 보아 청령포라는 지명은 유래가 깊은 것으로 보인다.

  • 세황명승정무진기원후삼계미계추체경서영원영수석 지명 청령포(歲皇明崇禎戊辰紀元後三癸未季秋抆涕敬書令原營竪石 地名 淸泠浦): 영조 39년 가을 눈물을 닦고 어명을 받들어 원주감영에서 비석을 세웠다. 지명은 청령포다.

영문

Stele Commemorating the Site of King Danjong's Residence in Yeongwol

This stele was erected in 1763 to commemorate the site of the residence where King Danjong (1441-1457, r. 1452-1455) lived when he was exiled to Yeongwol in 1457. As the original building was lost long ago, this stele served to identify the location of the king’s residence in exile.

The stele consists of a granite base and an obsidian body stone. The inscriptions on the front and back of the body stone read as follows:

  • Front: The Historic Site of King Danjong When He Resided in the Yeongwol Local District
  • Back: In the autumn of the gyemi year [1763], tears were wiped away and a stele was erected by the Wonju Provincial Office upon a royal order. The name of this site is Cheongnyeongpo.

영문 해설 내용

이 비석은 1457년 영월에 유배되었던 단종(1441-1457, 재위 1452-1455)이 머물던 곳임을 기리기 위해 1763년에 세워졌다. 이곳에 있던 원래의 건물은 없어졌기 때문에 이 비석으로 왕이 머물던 곳의 위치를 확인할 수 있었다.

비석은 화강석 기단과 오석으로 된 몸돌로 이루어져 있다. 앞면과 뒷면에 새겨진 비문은 다음과 같다.

  • 앞면: 단종이 영월부에 있을 때의 옛터
  • 뒷면: 1763년 가을 눈물을 닦고 어명을 받들어 원주감영에서 비석을 세웠다. 지명은 청령포다.
