일장각은 외행전의 북쪽 담장 밖에 있는 광주부 관아 건물로 정확한 용도는 알려져 있지 않다. 일장각은 남한산성이 있는 청량산의 또 다른 이름인 일장산(日長山)에서 유래된 것으로 순조 29년(1829)에 광주 유수 이지연이 세웠다. 발굴 조사 과정에서 건물터 일부를 확인하였고, 지금의 일장각은 2010년에 복원되었다.

Iljanggak Hall of the Temporary Palace at Namhansanseong Fortress

Iljanggak Hall was established in 1829 by the magistrate of Gwangju Yi Ji-yeon and belonged to the Gwangju-bu Government Office. It is located behind the northern enclosure wall of Oehaengjeon Hall, where the king oversaw state affairs. The hall’s name originates from Iljangsan, another name for Cheongnyangsan Mountain, where the palace complex is located. Remains of the original building were confirmed during an archaeological excavation. The current building was rebuilt in 2010.

영문 해설 내용

일장각은 광주부의 관아 건물로 1829년 광주 유수 이지연이 세웠다. 임금의 집무 공간인 외행전의 북쪽 담장 밖에 있다. “일장각”이라는 이름은 남한산성이 위치한 청량산의 다른 이름인 일장산에서 유래한 것이다. 발굴 조사 과정에서 건물터 일부가 확인되었고, 지금의 일장각은 2010년에 복원된 것이다.
