Celtic have completed the signing of Benfica midfielder Paulo Bernardo on season-long loan with an option to buy, making him Brendan Rodgers' third summer acquisition after adding Aris winger Luis Palma and Nat Phillips.

Kieran Tierney of Arsenal left-back is top of Celtic's transfer wish-list this summer as his position at Mikel Arteta's Arsenal squad is increasingly at stake. Ismaila Soro to Beitar Jerusalem

Ivorian midfielder Michael Fofana cost Celtic PS2 million when he arrived from Bnei Yehuda in 2020 but only made 43 appearances, mostly as a substitute. Last season he spent time on loan at Portuguese side Arouca where he featured 30 times as they placed fifth in their top flight division.

Greek side Aris had expressed interest in signing Soro for their second tier campaign but, according to Foot Mercato, he has instead chosen Beitar FC instead, potentially leaving Brendan Rodgers with major financial ramifications as fringe players such as Albian Ajeti and James McCarthy must receive wages before the window closes.

Soro stands a good chance of playing regularly for Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv and will bolster their squad, though Bolton have other central midfield options in Matt O'Riley, Reo Hatate and Tomoki Iwata as backup options.

Tomoki Iwata to Yokohama F Marinos

Scottish champions Celtic have completed their third deal before the January window opens with defensive midfielder Tomoki Iwata moving from J League club Urawa Red Diamonds on loan for one season with an option to purchase him included in his agreement. His arrival follows on the heels of signings by Kyogo Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi from Japan, Reo Hatate from Reo Hatate of Reo Hatate joining from Reo Hatate while Canadian right back Alistair Johnston joined from CF Montreal last month - so far so good!

Brendan Rodgers of Celtic FC has been searching for ways to add strength and resilience to his squad since Nir Bitton made the switch to Rubin Kazan from Glasgow City FC last season and Oliver Abildgaard struggled for starting roles. Iwata would make an ideal addition as he brings energy in midfield alongside Callum McGregor, Ryan Christie and Kris Ajer.

Chelsea remains eager to sign Celtic right-back Josip Juranovic and is understood to be preparing a six-figure offer for him. Rodgers wants to meet with Juranovic after returning from World Cup travels but it may be completed prior to deadline day.

Giorgos Giakoumakis to Celtic

Giorgos Giakoumakis quickly won over fans upon his arrival at Celtic last summer and proved a scoring threat during the second half of 2021/22. He helped lead them to their second consecutive Scottish Premiership title this season despite failing to break into Ange Postecoglou's plans due to Kyogo Furuhashi taking his place. Unfortunately for Giakoumakis however, Parkhead seems unlikely to offer him regular first-team football as Kyogo Furuhashi is taking his spot within Ange Postecoglou's plans as his successor is taking his spot - leaving Parkhead without an immediate return!

Giakoumakis seems poised to join Atlanta United and become their designated player until 2026, which would provide Ange Postecoglou with a significant transfer fee as well as clearing his wage bill of Giakoumakis' wages.

Ange has set his sights on several other targets for the remainder of this transfer window, including Sheffield Wednesday and Rosenborg BK as potential loan destinations for Stephen Welsh defender and Rosenborg BK striker Casper Tengstedt respectively.

Cameron Carter-Vickers to Tottenham

An important move was necessary when the American defender impressed for Celtic last season and was an integral member of Ange Postecoglou's side. Unfortunately he had only made five appearances during his six year stay at Tottenham and has gone out on loan seven times to clubs such as Sheffield United, Ipswich Town, Swansea City, Stoke and Bournemouth during that period.

Carter-Vickers has reached an age where regular football will benefit his development, so returning to the Premier League should do just that. He has already featured 12 times for his national side (USMNT) and could potentially feature at this year's World Cup tournament should they qualify.

Tottenham will receive an initial fee of PS6 million as per an option written into his loan deal from Benfica last summer; however, Record Sport believes that with future add-ons the total transfer value could exceed PS10 million. Ange Postecoglou will be eager to raid his old club in search of the defender who excelled during Scotland under him.
