Definition

목포측후소(木浦測候所, 1904~)는 관할지역의 기상관측 및 예보를 담당하는 기관으로 목포측후소는 목포기상대의 전신이다. 1904년 3월 신안군 하의면 옥도에 임시관측소를 개소하여 국내최초로 기상관측 업무를 시작했으며 1906년 4월 목포이사청 구내로 임시이전하였다가 1906년 8월 목포시 대의동 2번지에 청사를 신축하고 이전하였다. 1908년 3월 농공상부관측소 부속 목포측후소 개칭했다.
