장락사지 제8건물지는 통일 신라 시대와 고려 시대의 건물이 있던 자리로 처음 건물이 세워진 후 두 차례에 걸쳐 고쳐 지은 흔적이 남아 있다. 적심석*이 18기 발견되었는데, 통일 신라 시대의 적심석이 16기, 고려 시대의 적심석이 2기이다.
1차 건물지는 장락사지에서 확인된 건물 터 중에서 가장 큰 규모로 통일 신라 시대의 중심 건물이 있던 곳으로 추정된다. 정면 3칸, 측면 2칸의 남향 건물이 있던 자리로, 정면 13.8m, 측면 8.6m 규모이다. 건물의 오른쪽 칸 내부에 전면부와 측면 모두 한 칸씩 더 두어 동쪽과 북쪽에서 볼 때 정면 4칸, 측면 3칸이 되는 구조가 독특하다. 적심석 및 서쪽과 북쪽의 기단**이 일부 남아 있다.
2차 건물지는 통일 신라 시대에 고쳐 지은 건물이 있던 터로, 건물지 북쪽에 기와가 쌓인 층을 토대로 건축 시기를 추정했다. 2차 건물지의 적심석은 1차 건물지의 적심석열 중 남쪽에서 세 번째 열에 있는데, 서쪽에서 두 번째, 세 번째, 다섯 번째 적심석이다.
3차 건물지는 고려 시대 중기에 만들어졌으며, 적심석 2기가 확인되었다. 현재는 1차건물지 주춧돌의 위치를 표시하여 놓았다.

Building Site No. 8
This site consists of the remains of three buildings dating back to the Unified Silla (668-935) and Goryeo (918-1392) periods. A total of 18 foundation stones: 16 stones of the Unified Silla period and two stones of the Goryeo period have been confirmed at this site.
The remains of Building No. 1 are the largest among the building sites discovered at the former site of Jangnaksa Temple. It is presumed that this building was the main worship hall of the temple during the time of Unified Silla. The site measures 13.8 m in width and 8.6 m in depth*. The remains include foundation stones and a part of the western and northern sides of the building’s platform.
The remains of Building No. 2 suggest that it was the result of the reconstruction** of Building No. 1 which took place during the Unified Silla period. The time of construction was estimated based on the layer of soil where the building’s roof tiles were found. The foundation stones of this building are the second, the third, and the fifth stones located in the third row from the south together with the foundation stones of Building No. 1.
The remains of the third building include two foundation stones and date back to the middle period of the Goryeo dynasty.
The markings on the site indicate the locations of the pillar base stones of Building No. 1.

- They say 고쳐지었다 but I guess if the stone parts of the building were changed it should probably qualify as a reconstruction.
