'''Giryeongdang Hall, Jeonju'''

Giryeongdang Hall is the oldest hall for the elderly in Korea. The exact period of establishment is unknown, but a record that all related documents were lost when Jeonjuseong Fortress was captured in 1597 during the Japanese invasions of 1597-1598, suggests that it was used before that. It is said that from ancient times, magistrates would visit here and greet the elders when they were appointed. A register of the provincial governors of Jeolla-do Province and a register of the magistrates of Jeonju during the Joseon period (1392-1910) still remain in Giryeongdang Hall.
