국문
중산동 고분군은 2세기부터 7세기에 만들어졌다. 아파트 건설공사 현장에서 유물이 드러나 발굴 조사를 진행하였다. 삼한 시대의 널무덤, 덧널무덤, 삼국시대의 덧널무덤과 돌무지덧널무덤, 돌방무덤 등 수백여 기의 무덤이 드러났다.
무덤 내부에서는 오리모양토기와 같이 정교하게 제작된 와질토기*를 비롯하여 둥근머리큰칼, 갑옷과 같은 무기, 마구 등이 나왔다.
덧널무덤은 무덤 구덩이를 판 다음 덧널**을 설치한 뒤 그 내부에 주검을 묻은 형태이고, 돌무지덧널무덤은 덧널 위나 주위를 돌로 덮은 신라만의 독특한 무덤 형태이다. 신라 고분의 변천 과정을 보여 주는 중산동 고분군은 특히 돌무지덧널무덤의 성립과 변천 과정을 살필 수 있는 유적으로 평가 받는다.
