상주 지역에서 수백 년에 걸쳐 세거한 사서(沙西) 전식(全湜, 1563∼1642)의 초상(肖像) 일괄 유물이다.
전식초상은 조선 중기 17세기 영정 양식으로 제작된 전신교의좌상(全身交椅坐像)으로, 반신상(半身像)의 초본을 기초로 이모된 초상화다. 초상화를 보관하는 나무함 2점도 조선후기 전통 짜임 방식으로 제작된 것으로 자료적 가치가 높다.

영문 해설 내용
조선시대의 문신인 전식(1563-1642)의 초상화 2점과 초상화를 보관하는 나무함 2점이다. 초상화는 반신상의 초본과 비단에 채색한 전신상으로 이루어져 있으며, 17세기 영정 양식을 따라 조선 후기에 그려진 것으로 추정된다. 전신상은 초본을 기초로 이모한 것으로 보이며, 관복 차림의 전식이 의자에 앉은 모습이다. 나무함 2점도 조선 후기 전통 방식으로 제작된 것으로 자료적 가치가 높다.
