이 전차궤도는 2022년 광화문 월대 복원과정에서 발굴된 것으로, 안국동선과 통의동선이 광화문선과 만나 종로로 이어지는 Y자 형태를 띠고 있었다. 광화문선은 1917년, 통의동선과 안국동선은 1923년에 만들어졌으며, 1966년까지 운영되었다. 전차궤도는 도로에 묻혀있는 것이 정상이지만, 우리나라 전차의 역사와 기술적 이해를 돕기 위해 보존처리를 거쳐 철도박물관에 전시하게 되었다. 노면전차의 궤도간격은 1,067mm이며, 전시된 레일은 1926년과 1927년 미국에서 생산된 것이다.

Single-Track Tramway Tracks
These single-track tramway tracks were unearthed in 2022 during an archaeological excavation of the area in front of Gwanghwamun Gate in Seoul. The tracks, which were made using 1,067 mm-wide rails manufactured in the United States in 1926 and 1927, formed part of a tram line that operated from 1917 to 1966. This section of the tracks was restored and moved to the Railroad Museum in 2023 to serve as an educational tool in the understanding of the history and technology of trams in early 20th-century Korea.
