The ferry in this area was for those boats transporting Baekje envoys to the Southern Chinese Dynasties on the Shandong Peninsula. It was called Neungheodae (凌虛臺), literally meaning “Place for Soaring to the Sky,after the name of a nearby pavilion. ''The envoys of Baekje had to use a sea route to travel to China instead of a land route up the Korean peninsula, because there was another Korean kingdom, Goguryeo (1C BCE–668 CE), occupying the northern part of the Korean peninsula.''

Neungheodae Port Site

This area was a port site from 372 to 475 of the Baekje kingdom (18 BCE–660 CE), but has now been fully enclosed by land as the area was reclaimed from the sea to construct a park and apartment buildings.

The port in this area was for those boats transporting Baekje envoys to the Southern Chinese Dynasties on the Shandong Peninsula. It was called Neungheodae (凌虛臺), literally meaning “Place for Soaring to the Sky.”The envoys of Baekje had to use a sea route to travel to China instead of a land route up the Korean peninsula, because there was another Korean kingdom, Goguryeo (1C BCE–668 CE), occupying the northern part of the Korean peninsula.

A stone marker for the former location of the port was erected in 1955, and a pond and pavilion were constructed in 1988.
