국문
개원사는 남한산성에 있는 10개의 승영사찰(僧營寺刹) 중 하나로 창건 연대 및 창건자는 알 수 없다. 승영사찰은 조선 인조 2년(1624) 남한산성을 축조할 때 산성의 관리와 방어를 담당하는 승군(僧軍)의 거처이자 기도처로 쓰였다.
『남한지(南漢志)』(1846)에 따르면 인조 4년(1626) 이후, 조선 불교 총본산이자 인조 15년(1637) 대장경이 봉안되며 호국사찰로서 번창하였다. 1907년 일제 때문에 파괴되었다가 1976년 중건되어 현재에 이른다.

이곳은 남한산성에 있던 10개의 사찰 중 하나인 개원사가 있던 자리이다. 1624년 남한산성을 축조한 후 산성 내에 승군들이 주둔하는 사찰을 세우고, 산성의 관리와 방어를 담당하게 하였다.
개원사의 창건 연대 및 창건자는 알 수 없다. 『남한지(1846)』에 따르면 개원사의 규모가 매우 컸으며, 1637년 대장경이 봉안되었고, 이후 호국사찰로서 크게 번창하였다고 한다. 원래의 개원사는 1907년 일본에 의해 파괴되었고, 지금의 개원사는 1976년 다시 세워졌다.
