해설문

국문

진해 황해당 인판사는 백구로를 따라 길게 늘어선 2층 장옥의 일부이다. 내부에는 일제 시대 건축 당시의 모습이 잘 보존되어 있다. 기둥과 보, 장선과 바닥판 등의 목구조와 과거 사용된 것으로 보이는 다다미도 여전히 남아 있다.

이후 건물 뒤쪽 부분의 마당을 활용해 늘려 지었는데, 늘려 지은 부분은 시멘트 모르타르로 마감되어 있어 쉽게 구별할 수 있다. 건물 내부에 화장실을 설치하기 위해 2층 일부도 늘려 지었지만 1층의 늘려 지은 상부를 활용하여 건립 당시의 공간은 크게 훼손되지 않았다.

황해당 인판사는 1950년대부터 도장과 기념패 등을 제작하고 인쇄물을 만드는 가게로 운영하였다. 붉은색으로 칠해진 1층의 상품 진열장과 간판은 건립 당시의 원형은 아니지만 건물 변천사를 이해하는 데 필요한 중요한 증거물이다. 또한 과거 인쇄에 사용했던 여러 장비를 비롯해 이곳에서 만든 각종 제작물도 다수 보존하고 있어 진해를 통해 우리나라의 사회, 문화적 변화를 찾아볼 수 있는 유적으로 평가된다.

Hwanghaedang Printing Co.*

Hwanghaedang Printing Co. is the remains of a long two-story nagaya building along Baekgu-ro Road. Built during the Japanese colonial period (1910-1945), the interior well preserves its original features. Wooden structures such as its pillars, beams, joists(?), and flooring as well as floor mats (tatami) can also still be seen. Later, the building was expanded to use the courtyard in the back of the building and the expanded section is easy to discern as it was finished with a cement mortar. The second floor was also partially expanded to install a toilet inside the building, but since the expanded upper section of the first floor was used, the original space was not severely damaged.

From the 1950s, Hwanghaedang Printing Co. operated as a store for producing seals and commemorative tablets(?) as well as making printed materials. Painted red, the product display case on the first floor and the signboard(?) are not in the state they were originally built. In addition, as the majority of various merchandise(?) made here, including several types of equipment used for printing in the past, have been preserved, it is recognized as a site where cultural transformations can be found.
