해설문

국문

몰운대는 16세기까지 몰운도(沒蕓島)라는 섬이 있었으나, 그 후 낙동강에서 내려오는 흙과 모래가 퇴적되어 다대포와 연결된 부산의 전형적인 육계도(陸繫島)이다. 안개와 구름이 끼는 날에는 그 속에 잠겨 보이지 않는다고 하여 몰운대라고 하였다. 이곳의 남단에는 파도의 침식으로 형성된 해식동(海蝕洞)이 발달되어 있고 , 배후인 육지 쪽에는 수려한 모래해안이 있어 해수욕장으로 유명하다. 예로부터 몰운대는 우거진 숲, 기암괴석, 파도와 수려한 모래밭으로 빼어난 경승지로 이름이 나 있었다. 이곳의 대표적인 수종은 해송인데 그 사이에는 활엽수 등 약 90여 종이 자라고 있다. 그리고 삼광조, 갈매기 등 많은 종류의 새들을 볼 수 있는데 , 이들 가운데 상당수는 철새들이다. 몰운대에는 큰 공을 세우고 순절한 정운공순의비(鄭運公殉義碑)가 있다.

영문

Morundae Rock* is a well-known scenic site located in the southern end of Busan near the estuary of Nakdonggang River**. Until the 16th century, the rock was a part of a separate island, which eventually became tied to the mainland through a gradual accumulation of soil and sand. The name Morundae means the “Place Where the Clouds Vanish,” referring to a visual effect whereby clouds and fog look as if they disappear over the rock on cloudy days.

Since long ago, this place was famous for its scenic beauty created by its dense vegetation, unusually shaped rocks, and picturesque sand coast. The representative tree of this area is black pine (Pinus thunbergia L.). Other varieties include over 90 species of broad-leaved trees. The area is also home to (Japanese) paradise flycatchers, seagulls, and many other migratory birds. To the north of the rock is a famous beach, and to the south is a cave formed through the process of erosion caused by sea waves.

In 1798, a stele commemorating the military official Jeong Un (1543-1592), who heroically died (in the Battle of Busan) during the Japanese invasion of 1592, was erected near the rock(?).

영문 해설 내용

몰운대는 낙동강 하구와 남해가 맞닿는 곳에 있는 명승지이다. 이곳에는 16세기까지 섬이 있었으나, 흙과 모래가 퇴적하면서 육계도가 되었다. 몰운대라는 이름은 '구름에 묻힌 곳'이라는 뜻이고, 안개와 구름이 끼는 날에는 그 속에 잠겨 보이지 않는다는 의미를 담고 있다.

예로부터 몰운대는 우거진 숲, 기암괴석, 수려한 모래밭 등 빼어난 경관으로 이름이 나 있었다. 이곳의 대표적인 수종은 해송이고, 그외에도 활엽수 등 약 90여 종의 나무들이 자라고 있다. 그리고 삼광조, 갈매기 등 많은 종류의 철새들을 볼 수 있다. 북쪽은 해수욕장으로 유명하고, 남쪽에는 파도의 침식으로 형성된 해식동굴이 있다.
