남한산성에는 군량을 비롯하여 남한산성 행궁 및 관청의 물품을 보관하기 위해 창고가 많이 필요했다. 그중에서도 영고는 조선시대 5군영의 하나이자 도성 남부와 남한산성을 수비하는 수어청의 관할 창고였다. 전체 201칸으로 이루어진 24개의 건물에 금, 은, 포백 및 소금, 간장 등을 보관하였다고 전해진다.

현재 남한산초등학교가 있는 곳은 영고가 있었던 곳이다.

Storage Facilities Site, Nammhansanseong Fortress

This is the site of a storehouse which was operated by the Office of the Defense Commander of Namhansanseong Fortress. The site is located within the grounds of Namhansan Elementary School*.

There were many storage facilities set up inside the fortress to store food supplies for the military and various goods used at the palace and the government offices. This storage facility is said to have consisted of 24 buildings and was used for storing gold, silver, silk and hemp fabrics, salt, and soy sauce. The Office of the Defence Commander which managed the facility was one of the five military offices in charge of the defense of the royal capital.
