국문
이 고분이 위치한 충효동고분군(忠孝洞古墳群)은 1932년과 1935년에 10여 기의 고분이 발굴된 이후 방치되어 오다가 1974년 경주사적관리사무소가 수습조사하여 정리하였다. 이 때 내부 구조를 공개하게 된 돌방무덤[石室墳]이다.
통일신라시대의 굴식돌방무덤으로 내부에는 북벽에 붙여 동-서 방향으로 주검을 누였던 주검받침이 마련되어 있었고, 돌로 만든 머리받침과 발받침이 놓여 있었다. 널길은 널방의 남쪽에 마련되어 있다. 말뼈만 출토되었을 뿐 무덤의 주인을 알 수 있는 유물은 확인되지 않았다.
충효동고분군의 시작은 삼국시대로 보이지만 주로 통일신라시대 무덤이 대부분이며, 무덤의 주인은 신라의 귀족층으로 짐작된다.
