The shell mound in Seongam-dong was found in 1999 and it underwent excavations in 2000. It is located at a place where Oehwanggang River meets the sea and it has the characteristic of being built(?) by layers of fine clay which had set in on the seaside and pebbles eroded from the river hills. Artifacts found here are artifacts from the life of the Neolithic people such as pottery with raised design, comb-pattern pottery, stone axes, and stone weights. In addition, the spiny top shells ''(Batillus cornutus)'', Thomas’ rapa whelks ''(Rapana venosa)'', Pacific oysters ''(Crassostrea gigas)'', Japanese dosinias ''(Dosinorbis japonicus)'', and dolphin bones which were found reveal the diet of the ancient people.
