− | + | This spring originates from a crack in a rock and does not freeze throughout the year. The spring is named Jangsumul or Jangsubaljaguk, meaning “Water of the General” and “Footprint of the General,” respectively. These names originate from a legend about Kim Tong-jeong (?-1273), the general of the military unit Sambeyolcho that faced the allied forces of Goryeo (Korea) and Yuan (the Mongols) in the final battle at the fortress in Hangpadu-ri. According to this legend, during the attack on the fortress, General Kim Tong-jeong jumped off the fortress wall and landed on a rock leaving a crack with his foot from which clear water began to flow. | |
