점암 별신굿은 점암면 대룡리 대춘마을의 동제*이다. 점암 별신굿은 마을신이 당산이나 당에 좌정해 있지 않아 신을 맞이하고 보내는 절차를 농악대가 수행한다는 점에서 다른 동제와 구별된다.
점암 별신굿은 음력 정월보름에 진행되는데 ‘들당산굿-혼맞이-화주댁 마당밟이-제물봉안굿-제사와 헌식- 날당산굿’으로 구성되어 있다. 각각의 굿별로 특성이 뚜렷하고 제의적 기능이 있다.
점암 별신굿은 마을 제사 농악에서 벗어나 지역 축제로 확대되어 점암면민의 핵심 행사로 정착되었고, 여러 상쇠로 전승 발전시키고 있다. 마을 제사를 찾기 어려운 상황에서 점암 별신굿은 무형유산으로 학술적 가치가 있다.
