Lady Im Gets Mutilated (Group Translation)

Lady Im was a daughter of Im Geo, a Confucian literati from Wansan-bu district (modern Jeonju area). She married Choi Geukbu, a local supervisor of Nakan army. Japanese pirates invaded the town office and caught Lady Im. The pirates wanted to dishonor her, but Lady Im firmly resisted. Pirates cut off one of arms, then further cut off her foot. However, she did not give in, and thus was killed.

Poem) Lady Im from Wansan was from a proper and righteous family. The Japanese pirates suddenly invaded and showed their weapons.
How could the pirate leader with a sharp sword<1> dishonor her? Reaching death, her heart was strong and her oath did not wane.
Her chastity and refined morality surprised the whole world. Facing danger and throwing away her life, she chose not to live.
Making a choice for one’s body is extremely clear. Righteousness is heavy and she was about to know that death could be light too.
