원지문 현판

Definition

‘원지(元祉)’는 ‘큰 복’을 뜻한다. ‘크다’는 뜻의 ‘원(元)’과 ‘복(福)’이란 뜻의 ‘지(祉)’를 합하여 만들었다. 『송사(宋史)』 「악지(樂志)」에서 “인으로 덕을 보도하여 큰 복[元祉]을 영원히 주었다.”라는 용례를 찾을 수 있다.
