경복궁 흠경각

Definition

강녕전 서쪽, 함원전 앞에 있다. 1438(세종 20)년에 세우고 여기에 물의 힘을 이용하여 돌아가는 시계인 옥루(玉漏), 천문을 관측하는 선기옥형(璇璣玉衡) 등을 설치하였다. 1553(명종 8)년에 불탄 뒤 재건하였으며 임진왜란 때 파괴된 것을 경복궁 중건 때 재건하였다. 1876(고종 13)년에 불탔으며 1888(고종 25)년에 원하였다. 1917년 창덕궁 대화재 이후 철거되어 그 부재가 창덕궁 복원에 사용되었다. 1995년에 다시 복원하였다.
