지도문 현판

Definition

‘지도(志道)’는 ‘도에 뜻을 두다’는 뜻이다. ‘『논어』 「술이(述而)」 편의 다음 구절에서 그 출처를 찾을 수 있다. “공자께서 말씀하셨다. ‘도(道)에 뜻[志]을 두며, 덕(德)을 굳게 지키며, 인(仁)에 의지하며, 예(藝)에 노닐어야 한다.’” 현판은 1995년에 설치했다. 한학자이자 금석학자인 임창순이 쓰고 서각가 조정훈이 새겼다.
