My dear Mr. Day,	데이 박사님께,
I write to confirm the good news I sent you in a previous letter and that everything may be in order, I send you herewith a certified copy of letter I received in regard to the matter duly signed by Mr. Lyman Stewart president of the Union Oil Co. In regard to the time for the payments he stated that he want ed sufficient time for these, and is ready to pay the salaries of the missionaries, I think quarterly, just as soon as the men are appointed. In regard to the houses he asked me definitely how long he could have on this and I told him I would notify him at a later date when this was needed. Now I want to call your attention specifically to the fact that this is a confidential gift and that Mr. Stewart desires that his name and the city of Los Angeles be not mentioned in connection with it at the present time. You will notice that he has made certain conditions as to the kind of men and their beliefs that are to go out.	지난번 보내드린 편지에서 말씀드렸던 반가운 소식에 대해 다시 한 번 확실히 말씀드리고자, 모든 것이 잘 되기를 바라는 마음으로 펜을 들었습니다. 이번에는 그 일에 관해 연합 석유회사 사장인 라이먼 스튜어트 씨가 직접 쓴 편지도 동봉해 보내드립니다. 라이먼 스튜어트 씨가 “집을 제공하는데 충분한 시간이 필요하다”고 했었지만 선교사들의 생활비는 선교사들이 임명되는 데로-제 생각으로는 1년에 네 번씩-지급해 줄 수 있다고 생각합니다. 그리고 정확히 언제 그 집들을 사용하게 해주면 되는지 물어 보았는데 “후에 그것이 필요하게 되면 알려 드리겠다”고 했습니다. 라이먼 스튜어트씨가 우리에게 주는 것은 ‘은밀하게 전해 주는 선물’이라는 것을 잘 알고 계시리라 믿습니다. 그래서 라이먼 스튜어트 씨는 이 일과 관련하여 당분간 자신이나 로스앤젤레스시의 이름이 언급되지 않기를 원하고 있습니다. 당신은 ‘해외로 나가 사역하고자 하는 사람들이 어떤 부류의 사람인지, 그리고 어떤 믿음을 지녔는지’에 대한 그의 확실한 조건이 제정되어 있음을 알게 될 것입니다.
This is the largest gift that we have yet received for the Propaganda and it totals up as you see to a good large sum: 6 houses at $3,000.00 each, being $18,000.00 12 missions $1,000.00 for 5 years $60,000.00	이것은 선교활동을 위해 우리가 지금까지 받았던 것들 중에서 제일 큰 선물이며 그 총액은 상당한 액수에 이릅니다. 가옥 여섯채 각 3,000불 합계 18,000불 선교사 12명에 대한 지원금 1년 1인당 1,000불 5년간 합계 60,000불
