二十二日,在玉河館,是日晴,臣自是月初五日,得疾首之證,十七日向愈,至是日,卒得心痛,胃腸相反,手足不仁,冷氣遍身,喘息危在喉咽間,程保、金重、孫孝子、高伊福等,之無效,帶率人等,罔知攸措,李(預)[植]"、莫金在傍哭泣,有一人不知姓名,頗知醫病,見臣危殆,以大針針臣十指端,黑血进湧,其人曰:“殆哉哉.”金重、程保奔告于禮部主客司,會同館之報又至,禮部即差(大)(太醫院士朱晏,來救臣病,臣脉曰:“此證本緣七情所傷,重之以感寒,因得此疾,用心調理,”程保問曰:“治以何藥?”曰:“用香火大氣湯治之.”晏疾走太醫院,賣藥來,乃加減七氣湯也,手自調煎以飲臣,晏告去,夜二更,臣區所飲之藥,
옥하관에 머물렀습니다.
이 날은 맑았습니다.
신은 이 달 초5일부터 머리 아픈 증세가 생겨 17일에는 조금 나았는데 이날에 와서 갑자기 가슴이 아파 가슴과 배가 서로 뒤틀리고 손발이 마비되며 찬 기운이 몸에 퍼지더니 가쁜 숨이 겨우 목구멍에 걸려 있었습니다.
정보, 김중, 손효자, 고이복(高伊福) 등이 축원을 올렸으나 아무 소용이 없었습니다.
거느리고 있는 사람들은 어찌할 바를 몰랐고 이정과 막금은 곁에서 통곡하였습니다.
성명을 모르는 한 사람이 자못 병 치료할 줄을 알았는데, 신의 위태함을 보고서 큰 침으로 신의 열 손가락 끝을 찌르니 검은 피가 마구 솟구쳤습니다.
그 사람은 “위태롭구나! 위태롭구나!”라고 말하였습니다.
김중과 정보가 달려가서 예부의 주객사(主客司)에 사실을 알렸습니다.
회동관의 보고도 이르자 예부는 즉시 태의원사(太醫院士) 주민(朱旻)을 보내어 신의 병을 치료케 하였습니다.
주민은 신의 맥박을 짚어 보고 말하기를,
“이 증세는 본디 칠정(七情)이 손상된 데다 감기가 겹쳐 생긴 것이니 조심해서 몸조리를 해야 합니다”라고 하였습니다. 정보는, “무슨 약으로 치료합니까?”라고 물었습니다.
“향화대기탕(香火大氣湯)으로 치료해야 합니다.”
주민은 급히 태의원(太醫院)으로 달려가서 약을 가지고 왔는데 바로 가감칠기탕(加減七氣湯)이었습니다.
손수 약을 달여서 신에게 마시게 하고 주민은 돌아갔습니다.
밤 2경에 신은 마셨던 약을 토해 버렸습니다.
22nd Day. At Jade River House. This day was fair.
From the 5th Day of this Month, I had had a headache. On the 17th Day it had improved, but this day I suddenly got a pain in the heart. My chest and diaphragm were both stiff, my hands and feet were numb, and there were chills throughout my body. My breath was short in my throat. Chòng Po, Kim Chung, Son Hyo-ja, and Ko I-hok prayed for me without effect. The men we led were at a loss what to do. Yi Chong and Makkům wept at my side. There was one man- I do not know his name - who knew a little about treating sicknesses and saw that I was in danger. He punctured my ten finger tips with a big needle, and black blood spurted forth. The man said, “Very dangerous, very dangerous!”
Kim Chung and Chong Po hastened to inform the Bureau of Receptions of the Ministry of Rites; a report from the Central Post Hotel also reached the Ministry of Rites. They sent Chu Min, a Doctor of the Imperial Academy of Medicine, to come and treat my sickness. Chu Min felt my pulse and said, “This sickness is primarily because of injury to the seven affections and secondly because you have caught cold. That is why you have this sickness; you must take good care of it.” Chong Po said, “What medicine shall we use to treat it?”
Chu Min said, “Treat it with fragrant fire vitality tonic [hsiang-huo-tach’i-tang].” He hurried to the Imperial Academy of Medicine and came back with a drug. It was seven spirits regulating tonic [chia-chien-ch’i-ch’i-tang]. He mixed it and simmered it with his own hands, made me drink it, and took his leave. In the second watch of the night, I vomited the medicine I had drunk.
