至廣寧驛。遇 聖節使臣。是日晴。過四塔鋪。又過二鋪及接官亭。至廣寧衛城。由城西迎恩門而入。過進士坊。至廣寧驛。 聖節使參判蔡壽，質正官金學起，書狀官鄭而得及閔琳，蔡年，朴明善，庾思達，吳誡文，張良，李郁，李塾，李亨良，洪孝誠，鄭殷，申繼孫，辛自剛，尹仲連，金從孫，金春等。馳至驛中。書狀，質正先入臣所寓。畧語鄕國之音。臣往拜于使臣。使臣引臣上座曰。不意今日得相見於此。漂汝活汝。天實使之。到泊中國界。是乃得生之地。因問臣以所歷山川形勝人物繁夥。臣略陳之。 使臣亦語浙江以南江山地方。如語曾經之地。謂臣曰。我國人物。親見大江以南者。近古所無。汝獨歷覽若此。豈非幸乎。臣辭退。夕。 使臣又使人問曰。汝漂寄他國。行李粮饌。必有缺乏。缺乏何物。我其補之。臣曰。我則重蒙 皇帝厚恩。生到于此。過此後不數日間。馳至本國。令公之行。必過七月乃還。則客中有物。亦有限量。不可輕與人。敢辭。 使臣招臣之從者。以米二斗，藿二束贈之曰。喪中作客。無物可食。故以餽之。夜乘月。 使臣坐中庭。邀臣至前。設酌以慰。
광녕역(廣寧驛)에 이르러 성절사신(聖節使臣)을 만났습니다.
이 날은 맑았습니다.
사탑포(四塔鋪)를 지나고 또 이포(二鋪)와 접관정(接官亭)을 거쳐서 광녕위성(廣寧衛城)에 이르렀습니다.
성 서쪽 영은문(迎恩門)을 경유해 들어가 진사방(進士坊)을 지나서 광녕역에 이르니, 성절사인 참판(參判) 채수(蔡壽)', 질정관(質正官) 김학기(金學起), 서장관(書狀官) 정이득(鄭而得)과 민임(閔琳)·채연(蔡年)·박명선(朴明善)·유사달(思達)·오계문(吳誠文)·장량(張良)·이욱(李郁)·이숙(李塾)·이형량(李亨良)·홍효성(洪孝誠)·정은(鄭殷)·신계손(申繼孫)·신자강(辛自剛)·윤중연(尹仲連)·김종손(金從孫)·김춘(金春) 등이 광녕역 안으로 말을 달려왔습니다.
서장관과 질정관이 먼저 신의 처소로 들어와서 고향과 나라 소식을 대강 이야기해 주었습니다.
신이 가서 사신에게 절하니 사신이 신을 상석으로 안내하고 말하기를,
“뜻하지 않게 오늘 이곳에서 만나게 되었소. 그대를 표류시키고 살리는 것은 실로 하늘의 힘인데, 중국의 땅에 닿았으니 이는 곧 살길을 얻은 것이오”라고 하였습니다.
이어서 신에게 지나온 산천의 지리와 사람과 산물의 번성을 묻기에, 신이 대략 진술하였습니다.
사신도 절강 이남의 강산과 지방을 마치 전에 지나가 본 것처럼 이야기하고는 신에게 말하기를, “우리나라 사람으로서 대강(大江) 이남을 직접 본 이가 근자에 없었는데, 그대만이 두루 관람했으니 어찌 행운이 아니겠소?" 라고 하였습니다.
신은 하직하고 물러 나왔습니다. 저녁에 사신이 또 사람을 시켜 묻기를,
“그대는 표류되어 타국에 머무르고 있으니 물품과 식량 및 반찬이 반드시 모자랄 것이오. 모자란 것이 무엇인지 내가 그것을 보충해주겠소”라고 하였습니다.
신이 말하기를, “저는 황제의 두터운 은혜를 거듭 입어 살아서 이곳에 도착하였으니, 이곳을 지난 후에는 며칠 지나지 않아 본국에 이를 것입니다.
영공(令公)의 행차는 반드시 7월을 넘어야만 돌아오게 될 것이고, 객지에서 가진 물건 또한 한정이 있으므로 가벼이 남에게 주어서는 안 되는 것이니 감히 사양하겠습니다”라고 하였습니다.
사신은 신의 종자를 불러서 쌀 2되와 미역 2속(束)을 선사하면서 말하기를,
“상중(喪中)에 손 노릇을 하는데 먹을 만한 것도 없을 것이기 때문에 보내는 것이오”라고 하였습니다.
달밤에 사신이 뜰 가운데 앉아 신을 불러 맞이해서 술자리를 베풀어 위로해 주었습니다.
16th Day. Arriving at Kuang-ning Station and Meeting an Envoy for the Imperial Birthday. This day was fair.
We passed Ssu-t’a Stop, two other stops, and Chieh-kuan Pavilion, and came to the wall of Kuang-ning Garrison. We went in through Ying-en Gate, the west [gate] in the wall, passed Chin-shih-fang, and came to Kuang-ning Station. Soon afterwards, Board Vice-President Ch’ae Su, an Envoy for the Imperial Birthday,38 Kim Hak-ki, the Controller of Standards,39 Chòng 1-dúk, the First Secretary, Min Nim, Ch’ae Nyon, Pak Myöng-sön, Yu Sa-dal, O Kye-mun, Chang Nyang, Yi Uk, Yi Suk, Yi Hyong-nyang, Hong Hyo-sõng, Chong Un, Sin Kae-son, Haeng Cha-gang, Yun Chung-nyÖn, Kim Chong-son, and Kim Ch’un came into the station. The First Secretary and the Controller of Standards came first into the place where I had been lodged and told me in a general way about news from home. I went and bowed to the Envoy, who took me to an upper seat and said, “It never occurred to me that I should meet you here today. Indeed, it was Heaven that set you adrift and rescued you, and the coast of China on which you landed was the Earth that saved your life.” Then he asked me about strategic mountains and rivers and the densely populated [places) through which I had passed, and I described them roughly.
The Envoy, for his part, talked about river and mountain regions from Chekiang south as one would talk about places through which one had already passed. He said to me, “No one from our country in recent times has personally even seen the Yangtze River and the places south of it; you alone have passed through them and seen them as you have. How fortunate you are!" I left.
In the evening, the Envoy again sent a man to make an inquiry: “Since you drifted to a foreign country, your baggage and rations must want things. What do you need? I shall supply them.” I said, “I have repeatedly received the Emperor's generous graciousness and have reached here alive. After we pass here, it will not be many days before we reach our own country. His Excellency's party will take over seven months to return, and while abroad many things they have also will be limited.
You should not give them away lightly." I ventured to refuse.
The Envoy summoned my followers and gave them as presents two pecks of rice and two bunches of green beans. He said, “He is a guest in mourning, and there is nothing he may eat. That is why I am giving you this.”
At night the Envoy sat in the central garden in the moonlight and invited me to come before him. He served me wine to console me.
