Definition

제일은행목포출장소(第一銀行木浦出張所, 1898~1909)는 1898년 10월 1일 일본의 주식회사 “제일은행 목포출장소”가 개설되었다. “제일은행”은 일본 동경에 본점을 둔 것으로 조선에서는 부산과 원산, 인천에 이어 네 번째로 목포에도 출장소를 열었다. 목포의 최초 금융기관인 셈이다. 만호동 일본인 집을 빌려 운영을 하였으며, 일반 은행 업무와 함께 목포 해관세 납입 및 일본 영사관과 우편국의 공금을 보관하는 업무를 주로 하였다. 1909년 한국은행목포출장소에 위탁되었다.
