국문
해인사 입구에는 해인사 사적비를 비롯한 20여기의 공덕비들이 안치된 비석거리가 있다. 비석거리 뒤편 언덕에는 해인사의 선풍(禪風)을 크게 일으킨 자운(慈雲, 1911-1992)ㆍ성철(性徹, 1912-1993)ㆍ혜암(慧菴, 1920-2001)ㆍ일타(日陀, 1929-1999) 스님의 행적비와 사리탑을 모아 놓은 부도전(浮屠殿)이 있다.

Birim Stele Collection
These 21 steles are known collectively as Birim, meaning "the forest of steles."
On the far left and surrounded by a stone balustrade is the Stele of the History of Haeinsa Temple, which records the history of the temple from its foundation in 802 until 1769. The other 20 steles praise the meritorious deeds of people who supported the temple, such as local magistrates and court ladies.
On the hill behind this collection of steles, there is an area for the stupas and commemorative steles of four monks who contributed to the advancement of the temple in the 20th century.
영문 해설 내용
비석들이 모여있는 이곳은 ‘비석거리’ 혹은 비석들이 숲을 이루고 있다는 의미의 ‘비림’으로 불린다.
해인사 사적비를 비롯한 총 21기의 공덕비가 있다. 공덕비 뒤편에는 해인사를 크게 일으켰던 여러 스님들의 행적비와 사리탑이 있다.

- 특히 성철스님의 사리탑은 108번뇌를 표현하는 108평 면적의 대지에 조성되어 있다. 양산에 있는 통도사의 적멸보궁을 기본으로 삼아 표현했다고 하며, 탑 위의 지구본처럼 둥근 조형물은 완전한 깨달음과 참된 진리를 상징한다.
- 해인사 사적비 : 신라 애장왕 때의 창건부터 시작하여 1769년 (영조 45년) 6월에 비를 세우기까지의 사실들을 기록하였다. 높이 5,985mm로 귀부와 비신, 이수를 갖춘 거북받침비이다.
