행궁을 지키고, 위급한 상황이 발생하면 신호를 받아 행궁 안에 알리는 역할을 하던 시설이다. 후원 담장 안에 높고 탁 트인 곳에 세워 사방을 관찰하기에 적절하다. 장교 1인, 군졸 3인이 근무하다가 임금이 행궁에 머물면 장교 2인에 군졸 4인을 배치하여 경비를 튼튼히 했다. 전면 반 칸은 개방하고 좌우에 낮은 벽을 쳐서 비바람을 막고 후면 1칸은 온돌을 들였다.

내포사는 위급한 상황이 발생하면 행궁 안에 알리는 역할을 하던 군사시설이다. 화성행궁 후원에서 높고 탁 트인 곳에 있어서 사방을 관찰하기에 적절하다. 평상시에는 장교 1인과 군졸 3인이 근무하지만 왕이 행궁에 머물면 장교 2인과 군졸 4인을 배치해 경비를 강화했다. 전면 반 칸은 개방하고 좌우에 낮은 벽을 쳐서 비바람을 막았으며, 군사들이 머무를 수 있도록 후면 1칸에는 온돌을 설치했다.

Guard Post

This is a guard post used to inform people inside the temporary palace of emergencies. In Hwaseong Fortress, there were a total of three guard posts, but only two of them remain: this one and the one on the Southwestern Secret Entrance.

Standing on a high, open location in the rear garden of the temporary palace, this guard post was suitable for monitoring the neighborhood areas. Usually, four soldiers stayed in this post, and two additional soldiers were deployed when the king visited the temporary palace. In an emergency, the soldiers waved flags or beat a fish-shaped wooden instrument to alert the people in the fortress.

This guard post was destroyed in the early 20th century and was reconstructed in 2006.

This is a guard post used to inform people inside the temporary palace of emergencies.

Located on high ground behind the palace, this guard post commands a view of the surrounding area. Four soldiers were usually stationed here, but two more were deployed when the king visited. The soldiers would wave flags or beat a fish-shaped wooden instrument to alert of an emergency.

This guard post was destroyed in the early 20th century but was reconstructed in 2006. It is one of two remaining guard posts in Hwaseong Fortress.

영문 해설 내용

내포사는 위험이 있을 때 행궁 안에 이를 알리는 역할을 하던 시설물이다. 수원 화성에는 총 세 개의 포사가 있었는데, 현재는 서남암문 위의 포사를 포함하여 두 개만 남아있다.

내포사는 후원의 높고 탁 트인 곳에 설치되어 사방을 경비하기에 적합하다. 평상시에는 4명, 임금이 행궁에 왔을 때는 6명의 군사가 배치되었고, 비상시에는 깃발을 흔들거나 목어를 쳐서 방어태세를 갖추도록 하였다.

내포사는 20세기 초 파괴되었다가 2006년에 복원되었다.
