남옹성 무인각석은 남한산성 제2남옹성 홍예문 안쪽에 있는 석축의 모서리에 있다. 무인년(인조 16년, 1638)에 남옹성을 쌓았다 하여 남옹성 무인각석이라 한다. 각석에는 성을 쌓은 감독관의 관직과 이름, 장인의 이름과 작업 인원 등이 기록되어 있어 17세기 조선의 축성 체계를 파악할 수 있는 중요한 자료이다.
