국문
선정비(善政碑)는 조선시대 수령이 지방에 부임하여 백성을 어질게 다스린 것을 기념하기 위해 지역민들이 세운 비석이다. 남양도호부의 선정비는 이곳에 부임한 남양부사의 선정을 기리어 고을 주민들이 건립한 비석이며, 공덕비(功德碑)와 송덕비(頌德碑) 혹은 영세불망비(永世不忘碑)라고도 하였다.
『남양읍지』와 『남양군읍지』의 기록에 따르면 당시 모두 28기의 선정비가 세워졌던 것으로 확인되는데, 현재에는 관찰사와 부사 및 군수의 선정비 16기가 남아 있다.
이러한 선정비는 조선시대 남양도호부(현재 화성시)의 역사를 이해할 수 있는 좋은 자료이며, 당시 많은 목민관들이 이 지역에 부임하여 선정을 베풀었음을 알 수 있다.

According to the Town Chronicles of Namyang and the Town Chronicles of Namyang-gun County compiled in 1899, a total of 28 steles stood in Namyang at the time. Among them, 16 steles remain. They were gathered and moved to their current location.
Each stele has the name of the commemorated official inscribed on the front and the main text inscribed on the back. General information about the officials, such as the period during which they held the office and their post titles, can be found in the Town Chronicles of Namyang.
