Deokpojin, located in Gimpo across the strait from Ganghwado Island, is an earthen fortification built at an unknown time during the Joseon period (1392-1910). 해설문
국문
가포대(砲臺)(약물터)는 총7개의 포대(砲臺)로 이루어져 있으며, 강화 초지진과 덕진진의 남장포대를 향하고 있다. 1980년 발굴조사 당시 중포(中砲) 2문이 발견되었는데 이 중 1문은 고정식 포가(砲架, 포 받침대)에 걸려있는 채로 발굴되었다. 각 포에는 명문이 음각되어 있는데 포의 무게, 화약의 용량과 함께 ‘同治13년(고종 11년, 1874) 5월’ 운현궁에서 제작되었음을 확인할 수 있다.
영문
Deokpojin Fort, Gimpo
This is an artillery emplacement in which seven cannons are installed. There are two other artillery embankments in Deokpojin Fort, with five and three cannons, each.
The cannons are placed in niches carved into an earthen embankment, which are then covered with a thatched roof. On each of the cannons are inscriptions which record their weight, the amount of gunpowder used, and the fact that they were made in Unhyeongung Royal Residence in 1874.
