이 건물터는 와적기단이 사용된 왕궁 부속건물이다. 와적기단은 기단 외부에 기와를 쌓아 장식하는 기법으로 사비시대에 부여와 익산지역에서 유행하다가 일본에까지 전파되었다. 와적기단 건물터는 백제 건축기술과 그 전개 양상을 파악할 수 있어 학술적 가치가 높다.

Building Site No. 10 (Roof Tile Foundation Building Site)

This is the site of a building which had a foundation made of stacked roof tiles*. The use of roof tiles in foundations is a unique characteristic of Baekje-period architecture, which eventually spread even to Japan. Building sites featuring this technique are found in Buyeo and Iksan areas and date back to the period when Baekje had its capital in Sabi (538-660). This site is particularly valuable for the research on Baekje’s architecture techniques and their spread.

• According to this text and the one from 관북리(from which the first two sentences are taken), the foundation wasn’t made of tiles but only decorated with them, which makes more sense, I think. In this case, the first sentence in 영문 has to be changed to sth like:

This is the site of a building which had a foundation decorated with stacked roof tiles.

Otherwise it sounds like the foundation is completely made of roof tiles.
