내포사는 위급한 상황이 발생하면 행궁 안에 알리는 역할을 하던 군사시설이다. 화성행궁 후원에서 높고 탁 트인 곳에 있어서 사방을 관찰하기에 적절하다. 평상시에는 장교 1인과 군졸 3인이 근무하지만 왕이 행궁에 머물면 장교 2인과 군졸 4인을 배치해 경비를 강화했다. 전면 반 칸은 개방하고 좌우에 낮은 벽을 쳐서 비바람을 막았으며, 군사들이 머무를 수 있도록 후면 1칸에는 온돌을 설치했다.

Guard Post

This is a guard post used to inform people inside the temporary palace of emergencies.

Located on high ground behind the palace, this guard post commands a view of the surrounding area. Four soldiers were usually stationed here, but two more were deployed when the king visited. The soldiers would wave flags or beat a fish-shaped wooden instrument to alert of an emergency.

This guard post was destroyed in the early 20th century but was reconstructed in 2006. It is one of two remaining guard posts in Hwaseong Fortress.
