• 1795년(정조 19) 건립

화성 행궁에서 벌이는 행사에 쓸 음식을 장만하기 위해 마련한 건물이다. 1795년(정조 19) 혜경궁의 회갑연에 대비하여 지은 것으로 보인다. 이런 시설은 임시로 야외에 천막으로 가림막을 치고 안에 화덕을 갖추어 시설하고 행사를 마치면 철거하는 것이 보통이다. 화성에서는 고정적인 시설을 마련하여 사용한 점이 다르다.

Kitchen

This is a kitchen built to prepare food for special events held in this temporary palace. It was first built in 1795, at the time of the royal banquet for celebrating the 60th birthday of King Jeongjo’s mother. Afterwards, this kitchen was used as a separate cooking place for various events in the palace. Usually, this kind of facility was temporarily installed outdoors with tents and a brazier, and then removed after the event, but this kitchen was operated as a permanent facility.
