해설문

국문

왕궁리의 사찰은 백제 말에서 통일신라 초기에 궁궐터에 들어선 것으로 추정된다. 남북 일직선상에 오층석탑, 금당터, 강당터가 있어 ‘1탑 1금당’이라는 사찰 배치 양식을 따르고 있음을 알 수 있다. 부처를 모시는 금당은 사찰의 중심 건물로, 정면 5칸(19.3m), 측면 4칸(14.5m)으로 된 통간 구조이다. 사찰 관련 유적으로는 오층석탑 동편의 기와 가마터와 강당터 서편의 건물터 두 곳이 있다.
