헬리콥터 충남 제1호 충남호는 일본의 Kawasaki-Bell 47G3B KH4(HL6112) 기종이다. 충남호 헌납추진위원회가 충남 도민들의 성금을 모아 1972년 8월 3일 구입하였다. 이 헬기는 전장 10.80m, 전고 2.60m, 로터 직경 10.70m, 중량 726~1,111kg, 최대속도 161km/h이다. 동력은 라이커밍 VO-435-AID 피스톤 엔진 1기가 탑재되어 있다. 충남호는 낙도오지 행정연락, 항공촬영, 농작물병충해방제, 산림해충구제, 방역, 간첩작전, 재난구조 등 충남도민의 복지행정에 사용되었다. 전투비행사 출신인 최성모 기장을 포함하여 정비, 관리 등을 지원하는 총 4명의 팀원이 업무를 수행하였다. 충남호는 1972년 8월 3일부터 1989년 12월 29일까지 17년간 총 1,649시간 10분 동안 운항한 충남행정을 지원한 최초 항공헬기 1호이자 충남행정역사에 있어서 중요한 흔적을 남긴 역사적 유물이다.

Helicopter No. 1 of Chungcheongnam-do Province
This helicopter was purchased on August 3, 1972, through funds raised by the residents of the Chungcheongnam-do Province to support the provincial welfare and administration duties. Prior to its retirement on December 29, 1989, the helicopter was flown a total of 1,649 hours and 10 minutes for purposes such as administrative communication with remote islands and areas, aerial photography, pest control for crops, insect control for forests, communicable diseases control, spy operations, and disaster relief.
The helicopter’s model is a Japanese Kawasaki-Bell 47G3B KH4 (HL6112). It measures 10.8 m in full length, 2.6 m in overall height, 10.7 m in rotor diameter, 726 kg to 1,111 kg in weight, and 161 km/h in maximum speed. It is powered by one Lycoming VO-435-AID piston engine.
The renovation and management of the helicopter was overseen by a total of four team members, including Captain Choe Seong-mo, who served in the Air Force. As the first helicopter to support the administration of Chungcheongnam-do Province, this helicopter is a historic artifact that has left an important mark on the administrative history of Chungcheongnam-do Province.
