해설문

국문

이 보살상은 나무로 조성하여 옻칠 후 도금한 목조보살좌상이다. 얼굴과 몸체 모두 살집이 올라 있고 안정된 비례에 당당한 체구를 보이고 있다. 화염문으로 장식된 보관을 쓰고 있으며, 승기지, 부견의를 입고 변형편단우견식으로 대의를 착용하였다. 양손은 따로 만들어 신체와 분리되며, 엄지와 중지를 맞댄 아미타수인 하고 있다.

전체적으로 손상된 부분 없이 보존 상태가 양호하며, 조선 후기 보살상의 양식적 특징이 잘 나타나 있다.

Wooden Seated Bodhisattva of Heungguksa Temple, Chilgok

This statue depicts a seated bodhisattva and is presumed to have been made in the 17th to 18th century. It was carved from wood, lacquered, and then gilded. The face and body are full and rounded, with well-balanced proportions and a dignified presence.

The bodhisattva wears a jeweled headdress adorned with flame motifs. The hands, crafted separately and attached to the body, are posed with the thumb and middle finger touching. The statue is in excellent condition with no missing parts, and clearly displays the stylistic characteristics of bodhisattva sculpture from the late period of the Joseon dynasty (1392-1910).

영문 해설 내용

이 보살상은 보살을 나타낸 것으로 17-18세기에 만들어진 것으로 추정된다. 나무로 형태를 만들고 옻칠한 후 도금하였다. 얼굴과 몸체 모두 살집이 올라 있고 안정된 비례와 당당한 체구를 갖추고 있다. 머리에는 화염문으로 장식된 보관을 쓰고 있다. 양손은 별도로 제작하여 결합하였으며, 엄지와 중지를 맞댄 수인을 취하고 있다. 전체적으로 손상된 부분 없이 보존 상태가 양호하며, 조선 후기 보살상의 양식적 특징을 잘 보여준다.
