해설문

국문

이 탑은 월남전에 참전한 춘천시 출신 참전유공자들을 기리기 위해 2017년 10월 14일 건립되었다. 1964년부터 1973년까지 월남전에 연인원 324,864명이 참전하고 5,099명이 전사하였으며, 전사자 중 약 40여명은 춘천시 출신이다.

국군의 월남전 참전은 대한민국 역사상 최초이자 최대 규모의 해외 파병이었으며, 국군의 현대화와 국가경제 발전의 중요한 계기가 되었다.

이 탑을 통해 참전유공자들의 숭고한 희생정신을 기리고 후손들의 나라사랑정신을 함양하고자 한다.

Monument to the Fallen Soldiers of the Vietnam War

This memorial monument was erected on October 14, 2017 to honor soldiers from Chuncheon City who died in combat during the Vietnam War (1954-1959).

From 1964 to 1973, the Republic of Korea (ROK) dispatched a total of 324,864 soldiers to Vietnam. A total of 5,099 soldiers were killed in action, and, among them, about 40 soldiers were from Chuncheon.

The ROK military's participation in the Vietnam War was the first and largest overseas military dispatch in Korean history. It became an important stimulus for the modernization of the ROK military and the rapid economic growth of South Korea.
